PointCare and Gardner Group Sign Software Agreement to Simplify Eligibility Process for Providers and Uninsured Patients
San Jose, Calif. – April, 2013

PointCare, a patient eligibility software firm, and Gardner Group,a premier provider of patient-centric eligibility and enrollment solutions for hospitals, have signed an agreement to incorporate PointCare’s web-based software, PointCarePA, into Gardner Group’s eligibility services.

PointCarePA is a five-step eligibility screening tool that gives uninsured patients seeking care at hospitals and clinics access to all U.S. public and private health coverage options in less than 90 seconds. Launched in September 2012, following a successful two-year study of the software within Sharp HealthCare’s four Emergency Rooms, PointCarePA produces a personalized list of health coverage options for each screened patient. The list includes program contact information, monthly costs, sign-up checklists of important documents needed to successfully enroll, and program applications.”PointCare is providing a technology that is at the cusp of two converging axis – commercial health insurance and the uninsured population,” said Sherman Gardner, President and CEO of Gardner Group. “Its eligibility screening tool will help us to more efficiently screen our client’s patients in a quick, easy-to-use and mobile fashion.”Under the partnering arrangement, Gardner Group will include PointCarePA on its wi-fi enabled devices to enhance its services, which include staffing financial counselors in Emergency Departments, identifying governmental financial assistance, and third-party liability recovery and case management integration services. Gardner Group’s clients range from rural critical access hospitals to large metropolitan health systems throughout the U.S.

PointCarePA’s database is updated in real-time and will include data supporting the impending Medicaid expansion in 2014 and all additional coverage options made available through each state’s Health Information Exchange.

“We are delighted to team up with Gardner Group, as it allows us to move more quickly into provider systems nationwide at a critical time when providers are ramping up for an increase in patients brought about by the implementation of the Affordable Care Act,” said Phil Lebherz, CEO of PointCare.

PointCare is a patient advocacy company dedicated to helping health systems educate uninsured patients about their health coverage options. For more information or to request a demo, visit www.PointCare.com.
